CHARLESTON, Mo. -- The death of a 21-year-old Charleston woman being held on suspicion of a driving under the influence is under investigation after she died Sunday at the Mississippi County Detention Center.

About 6 a.m. Sunday, officers found Somer Dawn Nunnally dead in her cell, Mississippi County Coroner Terry Parker said. There were no signs of foul play, injury or trauma, he said.

Parker said Nunnally was brought into the jail for DUI after a "fender-bender" Saturday night.

"Toxicology was drawn for suspicion of a DUI after her wreck and also toxicology was drawn after her death during her autopsy procedure," Parker said. "There were no signs of injury or medical issue that caused her death."

Parker said toxicology results could take a few weeks.

Cory Hutcheson, a deputy and jail administrator at the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, confirmed Nunnally's death Sunday at the jail and that an autopsy was conducted Monday, but could not provide other information.

"The Sheriff's Department will likely send out a press release once the sheriff has had a chance to review the coroner's report," Hutcheson said.

Nunnally, originally from Cape Girardeau, was taken to Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
