The Kelly boys and girls track and field teams will be represented in 10 events at the Missouri Class 2 Track and Field Championships after the Hawks won six titles at the Class 2 Sectional 1 meet Saturday at Central R-III High School in Park Hills, Missouri.

Junior Maurice Davis and seniors Dakaria Johnson and Dalton Huffman were double winners for the Hawks, who will send eight athletes to the state meet next weekend in Jefferson City, Missouri.

"We would have liked to get a few more through," Kelly coach Kenneth Riedinger said. "The last two years we've taken 11, but we're excited to get that many through. It's just another good year for Kelly tack."

Davis, who qualified for the state meet for the second time, won the 100 meters in 11.22 seconds and the 200 in 23.16.

Johnson won the events on the girls side, capturing the 100 in 12.86 and the 200 in 26.36. Johnson, all-state in both events as a junior, qualified for the state meet for the third time.

Huffman also became a three-time state qualifier in winning the long jump with a personal-best 21 feet, 10 1/2 inches and the triple jump in a season-best 43-10. Huffman finished second at the state meet in the triple jump as a sophomore.

Joining the trio in the individual competition at state will be senior Samantha Ratledge, who finished third in the long jump at 15-5 1/2 and fourth in the triple jump at 33-3.

All four athletes will also compete as members of the Hawks' 400 relay teams, which also qualified. Kelly's placed second in the girls' 400 relay in a time of 52.27. Johnson and Ratledge teamed with Taylor Lasater and McKynlee Neumeyer, who are both will be making their third state appearance.

"We've got some kids with experience going to the state meet," Riedinger said.

Davis and Huffman teamed with Matt Burford, a state qualifier last year, and Kade Proctor to finish fourth in the boys 400 relay in 44.91.

St. Vincent pole vaulter Makenzie Graham was among the sectional winners, clearing 9-6.

The Indians' Levi Krause was a two-event qualifier, placing second in the boys 3,200 and third in the 1,600.

Scott City's Bella Bowers also was a double qualifier, placing second in the girls 1,600 and fourth in the 800.

Chaffee's Julia Sutterfield was a sectional runner-up, throwing 35-4 1/2 in the girls shot put, as was Woodland's Tyler Golden in the boys 110 hurdles.
