The name of a suspect involved in a Ranney Park shooting over the weekend was released Monday by the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Dante L. Criddle, 23, of Cape Girardeau was charged with first-degree Class A felony assault and felony armed criminal action.
He is being held on $150,000 bond.
Officers responded to a shooting at Ranney Park in Cape Girardeau about 6:15 p.m. Sunday, after receiving calls of shots fired with a possible person struck. Police who responded to the call found a man with gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen and leg. He was found just north of the park at the intersection of Ranney Avenue and Maple Street.
He was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said. Police told the Southeast Missourian on Sunday the victim, who was in his 20s, was conscious, alert and talking when police found him. No update on the extent or severity of the man's injuries was offered Monday.
Criddle was taken into custody about 8 p.m. Sunday. Police are not looking for further suspects, according to the news release issued Monday.
An online court records search shows multiple prior offenses for Criddle. The most recent charge was in November for distributing or delivering 5 grams or less of marijuana. Other charges include domestic assault, resisting or interfering with an arrest and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.
Online court records did not show any scheduled court appearances about the shooting as of Monday afternoon.
