CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Linda Rose Dowd, 75, of Chaffee passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the family home in Chaffee.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1939, in Chaffee to the late Lynn Vanus and Armella Rose Hahn Jones. Linda married S.R. "Ray" Dowd on Oct. 29, 1960, and he survives.

She worked as a secretary at Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee for 26 years. She then worked as a receptionist at Venture Products at Oran, Missouri. She then worked 10 years as the editor of the North Scott County Signal. Linda was secretary of the Chaffee Alumni Association, president of the Chaffee Historical Society and a member of the Ladies Auxilary of UTU. She also was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Daughters of St. Ambrose.

Survivors include her husband, Ray, of the home; one son, Ed (Dawn) Dowd of Charleston, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Lexi and Austin Dowd, both of Charleston; one sister, Brenda (Ray) Bryant of Hannibal, Missouri; four half-brothers, Joe (Janice) Jones of Jasper, Indiana, Gary (Ruth) Jones of Barnhart, Missouri, Mitchell (Meridith) Jones of Arnold, Missouri, and Darrell Jones of Cape Girardeau; two half-sisters, Betty Jones of Shingle Springs, California, and Martha (Danny) Bowers of Jackson.

Linda also was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Henley; one sister, Debra Henley; one half-sister, Shirley Cook; and one half-brother, Terry Jones.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chafffee, with the Revs. Randy Tochtrop and Allan Saunders celebrating. Committal services will follow the funeral Mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic School in Chaffee, Chaffee Alumni Association or the Chaffee Historical Society.
