ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis police say a woman who claimed she and a 3-year-old girl were injured in a drive-by shooting is admitting she lied about the details of what happened.

The woman first told police she and the girl were on the front porch of a home when someone in a black Pontiac Grand Prix shot at them early Monday.

The woman later recanted and nows says they actually were shot by a man who was playing with a gun inside the home.

The woman was struck in the arm, the child in the armpit. Both are hospitalized in serious condition. The man has been taken into custody, but charges have not been filed.
