Sharron V. Friend Black, 75, a resident of Charleston, Missouri, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Dec. 15, 1939, at St. Louis to the late Sherman W. and Evelyn Nielsen Black, she had lived in Charleston since 1969, where she was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church.

She first was employed with the Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston and later did private duty in-home nursing and had served on the board of the Charleston Nutrition Center.

She first was married to Lowell Gene Friend, who preceded her in death May 1, 1967.

She then married Wayne Stark Black on Oct. 7, 1989, and he preceded her in death Nov. 11, 2003.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lowell and Robin Newcomb Friend of Covington, Tennessee, and Oral Friend of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Larry Black of Barnhart, Missouri; four grandchildren, Georgia Nielsen Friend of Covington; Madison Taylor Friend of Cape Girardeau; and Stephen Calmore "Cal" Miller and Henry Terrell Miller, both of Covington. Also, a number of nieces and nephews survive.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
