A Cape Girardeau man is facing burglary charges after a weekend incident on North Sprigg Street.

Eric J. Baltrush, 34, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of trespassing when he entered an apartment at 120 N. Sprigg St., claiming he was looking for someone, Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Adam Glueck said in an email.

Glueck said Baltrush was released with a summons to appear for trespassing but returned to 120 N. Sprigg St. about 6 p.m. and entered a different apartment.

He allegedly got involved in an altercation with the resident after demanding money and the resident's keys, Glueck said. Baltrush left but was found by police and arrested a second time.

Baltrush has been charged with first-degree burglary, with a $25,000 cash or surety bond.

He is in custody at the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, Glueck said.
