Leon L. Stevens Jr., 66, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at home surrounded by his family, after a one-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

He was born March 14, 1949, in Dutchtown to Leon and Hilda Stueve Stevens. He and Mary Ann Glueck were married June 24, 1972, at Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Spartech Plastics over 35 years. Leon loved camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Greg Stevens of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tracy (Rick) Carr of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, James (Bonnie) Stevens and Eugene Stevens of Cape Girardeau and Bob (Doreen) Stevens of Whitewater; two grandchildren, Evan and Ella Carr; three stepgrandchildren, Tyleene and Tristyn Carr and Brendan Short; several other brothers- and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father- and mother-in-law, Virgil and Louise Glueck.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary Cathedral or St. Mary Cathedral School.
