Cape Girardeau police are investigating a shooting that happened late Tuesday.

Police responded to the College Street and Henderson Avenue intersection at 11:46 p.m. to a call that didn't come from the victim.

The victim was a man who was shot in the back, and Cape Girardeau public information officer Richard McCall said he continued to move after suffering the wound before he was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center.

McCall did not give the exact nature of the wound but said it was not bad. McCall would not provide any more information about the victim.

McCall said police are investigating other locations that include the corner of Henderson Avenue and Jefferson Street and the intersection of Independence and Lorimier streets to determine the site of the shooting and other related events.

McCall said the victim has been unable to identify a potential shooter. Police have no suspects at this time and could not say what type of firearm was used, McCall said.

McCall said there were no reported witnesses of the shooting.
