'Lest They Be Forgotten' documentary viewing

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Ford and Sons Funeral Home will present the documentary "Lest They Be Forgotten Volume VI: Vietnam Remembered" at Cape First Church, 254 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau. The event is free, and all veterans and families are welcome to attend. The afternoon also will include musical selections and the presentation of colors.

16th annual Veterans Honor Service

The 16th annual Veterans Honor Service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at First Pentecostal Church, 3054 Lexington Ave. in Cape Girardeau. The service will include music by the church's praise team and soloist Craig Mitchell, along with speeches, tributes, a flag line and ceremony, patriotic displays and an antique military vehicle display. Honored guests from local military service groups will be present.

U.S. Colored Troops to be honored

At least 14 Civil War veterans who served with the United States Colored Troops and enlisted from Cape Girardeau or who settled in the area after the war are buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. A living-history event will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery's section C, near the northernmost block of Caruthers Avenue, before the Dunklin Street intersection. Volunteers will be posted throughout the cemetery to share information about the life, service and families of each of 14 veterans.

KRCU Koffee to salute area veterans

KRCU Public Radio and the College of Health and Human Services at Southeast Missouri State University will honor area veterans at a special KRCU Koffee at 8 a.m. Wednesday at VFW Post No. 3838, 1049 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. The program will include remarks from Dr. Morris Jenkins, dean of the College of Health and Human Services and a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps; Jeremy McBroom, director of Military and Veterans Services at Southeast Missouri State University and a major in the U.S. Army Reserve; and Dr. Wayne Bowen, chair of the Department of History, a member of the City Council of Cape Girardeau and a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve who served in the Iraq War. The program also will include the presentation of the colors, the Pledge of Alliance and a Q&A session. Breakfast and coffee will be provided by My Daddy's Cheesecake and Starbucks. Central Junior High Veterans Day assembly

The program begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at Central Junior High School, 205 Caruthers Ave. in Cape Girardeau.

Jackson Veterans Day programs and parade

A Veterans Day program will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Jackson High School auditorium, with a reception to follow.A parade will be held at 4 p.m. in Uptown Jackson.

Lineup begins in front of Jackson High School at 3:30 p.m., and there will be a float reserved for all veterans who want to ride in the parade. Immediately following the parade, around 5 p.m., a patriotic program will be held at New McKendree United Methodist Church on South High Street.

Oran Veterans Day program

The program begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the gymnasium at Oran High School in Oran, Missouri. The program will include singing of the national anthem and other patriotic songs, recognition of all veterans in attendance, a guest speaker, thank-you cards to veterans from students and readings from the Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen essay contest winners. The school is at 310 Church St. in Oran.

Scott City Veterans Day program

The program begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the high-school gymnasium.

Veterans Day ceremony at Capaha Park

A ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freedom Corner at Capaha Park. Capt. David Cantrell is the featured speaker.

Veterans Day program at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery

The program begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Activities include music from the Bloomfield High School Band, the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of the national anthem, a flag tribute, a POW/MIA ceremony and keynote speaker Robert Wayne Fortenberry, concluding with a firing of volley and taps.

The cemetery is at 17357 Stars and Stripes Way in Bloomfield.
