DEXTER, Mo. -- Mary Faith Vowels, 83, of Dexter peacefully passed on to meet the Lord on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at Auburn Creek in Cape Girardeau surrounded by loving family and close friends.
Mary was born May 9, 1932, in Wycliffe, Kentucky, to Irene and Gene Estes. She married Marshall Lee Vowels of Charleston, Missouri, on Dec. 3, 1950, in Fornfelt. He preceded her in death May 29, 2003.
She was a homemaker and owner of the Body Shoppe. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist in Dexter, and dedicated decades to the choir.
A loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Mary leaves behind a daughter, Marsha Edwards of Cape Girardeau; a son, Michael (Cheryl) Vowels of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley (Francis) Lundy and JoAnn (Joe) Chiste, all of Summerfield, Florida; two grandchildren, Myles and Morghan Edwards, both upperclassmen at the University of Missouri, Columbia; along with a wealth of friends who also cherished her.
Friends my visit the family starting at 3 p.m. today at La Croix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
A celebration of her life will be at 5 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Ron Watts and the Rev. Fred Leist officiating. The internment service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Dr. Barry E. Winders officiating.
