Gladys Mae Siebert, 87, of Jackson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Old Appleton to Walter and Edna Ruppel Schreiner. She and Earl L. Siebert were married Nov. 9, 1947, in Uniontown, Missouri. He preceded her in death May 5, 1986...

Gladys Mae Siebert, 87, of Jackson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Old Appleton to Walter and Edna Ruppel Schreiner. She and Earl L. Siebert were married Nov. 9, 1947, in Uniontown, Missouri. He preceded her in death May 5, 1986.

Gladys was baptized May 26, 1927, at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown and confirmed April 6, 1941, at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown.

In 1946, Gladys and Earl opened Straight Way Services in Jackson. Gladys worked many years at the Jackson Hosiery Mill. She then finished 30 years at Rhodes 101 in Jackson. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Jackson. Gladys was on several bowling leagues for years. Maintaining a well-manicured yard was important, yet dancing brought her happiness from childhood and nearly every weekend since. She hosted numerous VFW Auxiliary quilting parties.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Joy) Siebert of Jackson; three grandchildren, Andrew (Elizabeth) Siebert of Jackson, Patrick Siebert of Fort Riley, Kansas, and Lindsay Sebaugh of Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Ami (Joe) Hicks of South Carolina and Jason Kaiser of California; five great-grandchildren, Michael and Jose Siebert and Grace, Katherine and Claire Sebaugh; seven step-great-grandchildren, Clayton, Collin, Jacob and Austin Simmons, Asia-Lea and Austin Hicks and Natalie Hess; a sister, Dorothy (Harlan) Siebert of Jackson; a brother, Ray (Lillian) Schreiner of Old Appleton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irene (Earl) Siemers, Elliouse Siebert, Vernon (Pat) Siebert and Vera Jean (Robert Lynn) Voges; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother-in-law, Freeman Siebert.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.

Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
