A Cape Girardeau woman reportedly used a stolen debit card to rack up more than $2,000 in expenditures in late August.

A month later, she was writing checks with an expired checkbook that previously had belonged to a man, but she went back to the well one too many times, police said.

Coleena Lee Osborn, 38, was arrested Nov. 5 while trying to use another check from the man at the Tuscan Sun at Saint Francis Medical Center, according to public information officer Adam Glueck of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Osborn used the man's checks three times at the Tuscan Sun -- on Sept. 30, Oct. 2 and Oct. 5 -- for amounts totaling $135, and employees were instructed to look for routing numbers, Glueck said.

Osborn faces felony charges of forgery, felony fraudulent use of a debit device, felony stealing and misdemeanor stealing.

At the time of her arrest, Osborn had three warrants, including one in Cape Girardeau that dated back to 2013 for writing a bad check. She is scheduled for arraignment Monday.

On Aug. 20, Osborn borrowed a car from a friend and went to her apartment, using a key on the ring, and took a Visa card, according to a probable-cause statement by detective Jeff Lucas.

She went to US Bank and withdrew $100 and $400 from an ATM, then went to Best Buy and bought a $323 computer, Lucas wrote.

She then withdrew $1,000 in cash from a US Bank ATM in three transactions and spent $317 at Wal-Mart, Lucas wrote.

The total charges over two days amounted to about $2,141.

In the probable-cause statement, Lucas wrote he interviewed Osborn, and she admitted using the cards.

Osborn also is accused of using the checks Sept. 22 and 23 at Southeast Healthpoint and filling out an application for her family to join the fitness center.
