PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Theresa P. "Terry" Balsman, 82, of Perryville died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at her home. She was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Perry County, Missouri, daughter of Karl H. and Dora M. Trapp Kohlfeld. She and Eugene A. "Gene" Balsman were married Sept. 27, 1952. He preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1994. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Theresa P. "Terry" Balsman, 82, of Perryville died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at her home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Perry County, Missouri, daughter of Karl H. and Dora M. Trapp Kohlfeld. She and Eugene A. "Gene" Balsman were married Sept. 27, 1952. He preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1994. She leaves behind longtime special friend, Norman Theisman of Mascoutah, Illinois.

Theresa was a self-employed restaurant owner of Gene & Terry's Restaurant in Perryville, then Gene's Country Kettle in Biehle, Missouri, and Gene's Western Corral in Perryville. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Ladies of Charity. She loved to dance, play cards, golf and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her family and her faith were her greatest joys.

Survivors include three daughters and three sons, Gwendolyn (John) Darin, Rhonda Hagan, Audrey (Bobby) Bucy, all of Perryville, Kevin Balsman of St. Louis, Greg (Melanie) Balsman of Cape Girardeau and Steven (Trishia) Balsman of Perryville; one brother, Charles "Jr." (Ann) Kohlfeld of St. Peters, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, Stacy (Cary) Leimbach, Kelly (Chris) Ponder, John E. Darin, Rachel (Mark) Hartzell, Amy (John) Versheldon, Karla Hagan, Joshua Hagan, Angela (Jason) Unterreiner, Cassidy L'Hote, Anthony Balsman, Nathan Balsman, Caleb Balsman, Jake (Brandy) Balsman and Kayla Balsman; six stepgrandchildren, Trevor and Brennon Todt, Chelsea Stephens, and Keasha, Kristen and Megan Grubb; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-stepgranddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Wallace "Wally", Edgar, Joseph and Leo Kohlfeld; two sisters, Bernice Bruning and Marie Meyer; and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Darin.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Catholic wake service at 6:30 p.m., and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, with a rosary at 8:30 a.m., at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. James G. Ward CM officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Apple Creek.

Memorials are preferred for Masses.
