Man accused of wife's kidnapping

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A Poplar Bluff man is in jail, suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his estranged wife, whom authorities said he has victimized in the past. Just before 9 a.m. Monday, Poplar Bluff police officer Robert Reed was sent to a home in the 600 block of Cleveland Street about a possible missing person. The 33-year-old woman's children reported a window was broken in their home, and their mother was missing. The window is in the mother's bedroom, and a dresser was knocked over in an apparent scuffle, with a blood trail nearby. One of the children showed an officer his mother's phone was shattered in the living room as well. During the ensuing investigation, Doyle W. Turner, 44, was developed as a person of interest. Information led officers to a residence in the 100 block of West Harper Street, where investigators found Turner and rescued his captive. The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment for her injuries.
