An arrest warrant was filed Tuesday for a suspect in a Scott City burglary and theft who happened to be the victim's daughter.

Leslie Jennifer Patterson, 33, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, is charged with first-degree burglary, felony theft, misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor property damage.

Patterson's mother received a text message someone was in her home in the 200 block of Missouri Street in Scott City on Oct. 21. She later found out it was her daughter, according to a probable-cause report from Scott City police officer Travis Sheppard.

Using the assistance of a neighbor and his cellphone, the victim contacted Patterson. Patterson said into the cellphone she was retrieving her belongings but told her mother she needed better locks and she gained entry in less than 2.2 seconds. The victim later noticed damage to the front door.

The neighbor saw Patterson taking several boxes, a Wi-Fi system, four wine glasses, shoes from a plastic bin, jewelry and several pieces of clothing, Sheppard wrote. In total, the victim reported about $1,300 worth of items stolen, including about 40 pairs of shoes and a fur-lined leather jacket.
