Student members in the Art Guild in the Department of Art at Southeast Missouri State University are exhibiting their work in the Dobbins Center Hallway Gallery.
The exhibit, which features drawings, prints, graphic design, paintings and mixed media, will stay on display through Dec. 9.
These students have work on display: Marqusha Oliver of Kansas City, Missouri; Lindsey Bequette of De Soto, Missouri; Jade Notice of Maryland Heights, Missouri; Meghan Stanley of Johnston City, Illinois; Bridget Bingham of Chicago; Molly Doty of Fairmont, West Virginia; Thomas Hall of Memphis, Tennessee; Chloe Hays of Cape Girardeau; Hannah Thomas of Ballwin, Missouri; Caitlin Kennedy of St. Louis; Gabby Bernier of St. Louis; Alicia Leake of Cape Girardeau; Chris Beaty of Cape Girardeau; Terry Davis of Jackson; Vicky Bollinger of Jackson; Allison Kaempfe of Perryville, Missouri; Haleigh Givens of Cape Girardeau; Heather Gillock of Puxico, Missouri; and Angela Kuri of Diamond, Missouri.
"This show is important for students because it is an intimate and focused show and a great opportunity to curate our own art. The show is accessible to the student body, but is also in a public place to give students a secondary audience outside of their peers," said Kennedy, who is Art Guild president. "The casual setting allows for discussion between the artists and the audience. This show gives students experience that is valuable for building a resume and being more professional artists."
The guild is an organization aimed at professionally minded art students who wish to maximize their potential in their university and community environment. The purpose of the organization is to provide an environment of professionalism to art students who are looking to further their careers. In addition to Kennedy, guild officers are Thomas Hall, vice president; Heather Gillock, secretary; and Cassie Krigbaum, treasurer. Joni Hand, professor of art, is faculty adviser.
