A Holiday Spectacular will feature sounds of the season in a program performed Dec. 8 by the Southeast Missouri State University Wind Symphony and Marching Band along with the Potosi High School Concert Band at Southeast's River Campus.
The concert is slated for 7:30 p.m. in the Bedell Performance Hall.
"This will be the first December program in some time that the wind symphony has performed holiday selections. I am pleased to have the Potosi High School band as our guests, and I'm very pleased to have the many student musicians in the wind symphony and marching band join together to celebrate the season," said Martin Reynolds, assistant professor of music and director of bands and music education at Southeast. "It will be a terrific program and will showcase the talent of our Southeast students in an exhilarating end-of the-semester program."
Under the direction of Jeff Singer, the Potosi High School Concert Band will perform four pieces in the first half of the program: "Main Street Celebration," "Escape from the Deep," "Overcome" and "Christmas Music for Winds."
In the second half of the program, the Southeast Wind Symphony and Marching Band, under the direction of Reynolds, will perform several holiday carols, including "Carol of the Bells," "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming," "Sleigh Ride," "Angels We Have Heard on High," "White Christmas" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," among others.
Tickets may be purchased by contacting the River Campus box office in the Cultural Arts Center at 518 S. Fountain St. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, calling (573) 651-2265, or online at RiverCampusEvents.com.
