Dorothy Blackman, 87, of Jackson passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 30, 1928, in Cape Girardeau to Sloan and Ida Floyd Watkins. She and Kelly Blackman were married Jan. 6, 1948. Dorothy was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and the former Cape Girardeau Business College. Dorothy Blackman, 87, of Jackson passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 30, 1928, in Cape Girardeau to Sloan and Ida Floyd Watkins. She and Kelly Blackman were married Jan. 6, 1948.

Dorothy was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and the former Cape Girardeau Business College. She worked 33 years as deputy city clerk for the city of Jackson, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson. Her main focus in life was her family, being involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 68 years, Kelly of Jackson; two children, Stephen (Mary) Blackman and Kim (John) King, all of Jackson; four grandchildren, Tami (Roy) Frakes of Tama, Iowa, Brad (Amy) Blackman of Jackson, Brett Blackman of Jackson and Lori McLeod and husband Daniel Ancell of Wentzville, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Colson, Callie and Mary Kate Frakes of Tama, Brielle, Blake and Brady Blackman of Jackson and Peyton McLeod and Zachary Ancell of Wentzville; and two great-stepgrandchildren, Taylor Colvin of Wentzville and Collin Ancell of Moberly, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lucas Clabough officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church in Jackson.
