A Gordonville man was arrested Monday on suspicion of beating his wife with a fly swatter until she agreed to have sex with him.

Keith Gregory Fry, 63, has been charged with second-degree felony domestic assault.

Before 9 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Talon Trail, Fry banged on the door to his wife's bedroom -- separate from his own -- persistently enough she believed he would damage the door if she did not unlock it, according to the probable-cause statement from Cpl. Justin Glastetter of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff Department. Before opening the door, she turned on the voice recorder on her cellphone, Glastetter wrote.

She said when she opened the door, Fry began to beat her with a fly swatter and demanded she have sex with him, according to the probable-cause statement. After several swats, she agreed to intercourse, but Fry left the room, saying he needed to drink a beer first, and did not come back, Glastetter wrote.

Glastetter noted numerous welts on the victim's lower back and wrote screams could be heard in the recording, as well as what sounded like Fry striking her.

"Also in the recording, Mr. Fry can be heard ordering (the victim) to get on the bed and stay there until he gets back," Glastetter wrote. "Mr. Fry can also be heard belittling (the victim) and telling her she is property and she belongs to him."

Fry admitted to striking the victim with the fly swatter, Glastetter wrote.
