The Southeast Missouri State baseball team announced the signing of power-hitter Tristen Gagen on Wednesday.

Gagen, an infielder who will transfer from Northeastern Oklahama A&M, set the program's single-season record for batting average and ranked fifth in the junior college ranks with his .470 average last season.

He had 44 RBIs as a freshman for the Golden Norsemen and hit 10 home runs and 10 doubles.

His on base percentage was .533, and his slugging percentage was .769.

"Tristen is exactly what we look for when we are recruiting a middle of the order bat," coach Steve Bieser said in a press release. "He is a strong kid with plus bat speed that does not swing and miss. ... He will fall right in line with some of the most successful power hitters we have ever had at Southeast Missouri."

The Redhawks previously signed nine others during the early signing period: Connor Basler, Kyle Bottger, Conyal Cody, Jake Criswell, Cooper Marks, Aiden McMahon, Cooper Rentfro, Alex Samples and Danny Wright.
