High school roundup: Saxony Lutheran boys reach final of tournament

Corie Williams scored a game-high 31 points, including eight 3-pointers, as the Saxony Lutheran boys basketball team routed Jefferson 58-30 in pool play Thursday night to reach the championship game of the Rolla "Duke" Herbert Tournament in Crystal City.

The Crusaders built a 24-point lead by halftime.

William Rogers added 12 points, all from behind the arc, for Saxony Lutheran (2-0).

Easton Null had 10 points to pace Jefferson (0-3).

Saxony Lutheran will play host Crystal City (4-1) for the championship at 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Nathan Bolin nailed a game-high 26 points as the sixth-seeded Blue Jays clipped the seventh-seeded Wildcats to gain a spot in the consolation game of the Woodland Tournament.

The Blue Jays held a one-point lead at halftime and went on to outscore the Wildcats by seven points in the second half to get the win.

Steven Masterson and Trevor Dillard bucketed 11 points apiece for Oak Ridge (1-1).

Bobby Wright drained a game-high 20 points as the fifth-seeded Cubs downed the eighth-seeded Red Devils to advance to the consolation championship game of the Oran Invitational.

The Red Devils led 23-18 at halftime before the Cubs turned things around in the second half. Bell City held Chaffee to single digits and outscored the Red Devils by 21 points after the intermission.
