A teenager was shot to death Tuesday night in Sikeston, Missouri, and a suspect was arrested.

Tiarrius Gant, 17, of Sikeston was arrested in the St Louis area Wednesday morning. He is charged with murder, second-degree murder, armed criminal action and discharging a weapon from a motor vehicle.

His bond was set at $100,000, cash only.

At 9:23 p.m. Tuesday, Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers went to 806 Apache Drive in Sikeston about a shooting, according to a news release from Sikeston DPS Capt. Michael Williams.

Officers learned one person was shot and taken by a personal vehicle to a hospital.

Officers learned the suspect was sitting in his vehicle and shot the teen as he stood outside the passenger-side front door. The victim died from his injuries at the hospital a short time later.

The SEMO Major Case Squad was activated in the case and is asking anyone with information to call Sikeston DPS at (573) 471-4711.
