She was born June 17, 1929, in Promise Land, Arkansas, to the late Marion Harlan and Fannie Montez Marchbanks. She married J.W. Poe on Nov. 6, 1946, and he preceded her in death April 10, 2011...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Sammie Laine Garner Poe, 86, of Chaffee passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 17, 1929, in Promise Land, Arkansas, to the late Marion Harlan and Fannie Montez Marchbanks. She married J.W. Poe on Nov. 6, 1946, and he preceded her in death April 10, 2011.

Sammie was a member of First Baptist Church of Chaffee and played the piano at Calvary Baptist Church in Chaffee for over 25 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Sherry (Don) Meyers of Brentwood, Tennessee, Joy (Ron) Moyers of Chaffee and Melaine (Bill) Bouge of Hendersonville, Tennessee; seven grandsons, Kyle (Crystal) Moyers of Dexter, Missouri, Tyson (Jenny) Moyers of Cape Girardeau, Brad Meyers, Ryan (Allison) Meyers, Nathan (Brittany) Meyers, Adam (Katie) Bouge, Brandon (Megan) Bouge, all of Nashville, Tennessee; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Wyncie Bouge; two sisters; and six brothers.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with Rev. Josh Boley officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Chaffee.
