Those affected by flooding in Cape Girardeau and north Scott counties will have a chance today to get in touch with resources that can help.

Community partners will host a Multi-Agency Resource Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope St. in Cape Girardeau.

Individuals affected by flooding in Cape Girardeau and north Scott counties can come to the center to receive a variety of goods, services and information from public-service and faith-based agencies, according to blog.cityofcapegirardeau.org.

Cleanup tips for flood victims and tetanus shots also will be available.

Those attending should bring proof their residence was in an affected area, such as a driver's license showing a current address or a piece of mail.

Organizations that will be on hand with information and services at the resource center are the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross; the Salvation Army; Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri; University of Missouri Extension; Humane Society of Southeast Missouri; East Missouri Action Agency; local public health departments; the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and its Family Support Division; Love INC; Community Caring Council; 211; the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation; Aging Matters; the state of Missouri; Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration; Department of Social Services; the Missouri attorney general's office; Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief; and Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association.

Some household essentials will be provided courtesy of Procter & Gamble.

Those affected by flooding should take photos of their property before cleaning up and keep receipts for related expenses.

The city emphasizes it is imperative to document damage by taking photos of the exterior of property under water and after the water went down, photos of interiors before and after the contents are removed and photos of damaged contents laid out.

It also advises writing an inventory of all personal items damaged and receipts for purchase of any products, services for cleanup and repair.
