Orville James Meyer, 71, of Scott City died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 27, 1944, in St. Mary, Missouri, to Hillary Edgar and Dorothy Adell Brown Meyer. He and Julia Martin were married in 1987. She died Dec. 22, 2014.

Orville graduated from Ste. Genevieve (Missouri) High School. He worked for Chase Tire and Brake in Sacramento, California. He later owned and operated his own service station and tire shop in Sacramento.

After moving back to Missouri, he worked for Brown's watch and clock repair in Cape Girardeau.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Walt) Harrison of Evansville, Indiana, and Camelia Winkler of Harrah, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Drew Bridges and Davonna Casey; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis C. (Dianne) Meyer of Granite City, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Stephen, Adrian, August and Kenneth Meyer.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
