The Cape Girardeau area is expected to get a burst of moderate to heavy snow Tuesday night and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory, which also includes parts of Kentucky and Indiana, will take affect starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday. A winter storm warning is in effect from 6 p.m. today to noon Wednesday. The National Weather Service says at least two to three inches of snow are expected, intermittently mixed with sleet. Snow should start in southern Missouri and Illinois by midnight Tuesday, the weather service reported. Visibility should be less than a mile during the heaviest part of the snowfall.
