Cape Girardeau firefighters extinguished a small kitchen fire at the Cracker Barrel restaurant early Sunday morning.

Firefighters went to the restaurant at 3:45 a.m., and all the employees were outside the building, according to a report from the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.

Firefighters found a small fire at a one-inch gas line going to one of the griddles. They shut off the gas to the griddle before shutting off gas at the main, the report stated.

An investigation revealed a problem with one of the fittings. The griddle sustained only minor damage. Employees returned to the building by the time firefighters left at 4:03 a.m., according to the report.
