Melanie Ruth Brickhaus, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Saturday, May 13, 1961, in Pierre, South Dakota, to Frank P. and Gloria Ruth Hoehne Brickhaus.

Melanie was a 1980 graduate of Perryville (Missouri) High School. She worked at VIP Industries for many years.

She loved all music, especially Keith Urban, and loved to cross stitch and do word-find puzzles.

She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her mother, Gloria (S. Lee) Brothers of Jackson; a brother, David Brickhaus of Jackson; a sister, Elizabeth Brothers of Columbia, Missouri; aunts, Vera Sandler and Lillian Kasten of Perryville; an uncle, Ralph Hoehne of Uniontown, Missouri; a number of cousins; and the staff and clients of Crossroads ISL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank P. Brickhaus.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Tony Kobak officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church.
