Young area basketball players will have the opportunity to show what they can do from the charity stripe.

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a youth free throw contest open to boys and girls ages 9 through 14.

The local competition will be held on Jan. 31 at Notre Dame High School, beginning at 1 p.m.

Doors will open by 12:30 p.m. for participants to warm up prior to the competition starting. Winners of each age group will advance to the district competition at Immaculate Conception gym in Jackson on Feb. 7. Winners progress through local, district, and state competitions.

Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent. Basketballs will be available for use by all participants.
