ShermaDene McCarty, 79, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at her home. She was born July 22, 1936, in St. Louis, the daughter of Everett and Mary Wilson Wilkinson. ShermaDene McCarty, 79, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at her home.

She was born July 22, 1936, in St. Louis, the daughter of Everett and Mary Wilson Wilkinson.

Sherma was the wife of Master Sgt. Darrel McCarty, who was the U.S. Air Force chapel manager for 22 years. She, too, was very active in the chapel services, earning many commendations from the Air Force.

She worked at many different jobs throughout her life, most notably as a retail saleslady for several women's apparel stores.

She was a spitfire of a lady with a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor. She was an excellent cook and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was completely dedicated to her family and friends.

Sherma is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Clark) AuBuchon of Farmington, Missouri, and Maria AuBuchon of Jackson; a brother, Gary (Cheryl) Wilkinson of Branson, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tiffany AuBuchon, Amanda (Steve) Schlittz, Garrett AuBuchon, Danielle AuBuchon and Todd (Ronni) Carter; and great-grandchildren Caden, Alivia, Kameron, Landon, Karlyn and Langston, and a set of twins on the way, Gracelynn and Keegan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Charlie and Larry Wilkinson; her special fiance, Gene Kinder; and an especially close cousin, Ferlin Husky.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating.

Memorials made be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Fibromyalgia Association.
