As we begin Black History Month, I encourage all local community governments, area schools and other organizations to get involved not only in celebrating the historical achievements of African-Americans but also to discuss and suggest ways of building on the past so as to improve the future. Qualifications

I read where Gene Lyons stated that Hillary Clinton is the only one qualified to be president. I guess if you use qualifications like: can't tell the truth if her life depended it, or says whatever one needs to get votes, or no matter you put who knows how many lives in jeopardy with her email misuse and then lies again and acts stupid when it comes to email technology. I guess, Gene, you're right if these are your qualifications to be president.

Generous act

Wanted to give a Speak Out to the lady at Wal-mart who was in the line behind me. I asked what kind of wine she was buying, and she told me I should try it. So I said, "Maybe next time I will get some." She said, "Well, here, this is my gift." So she bought and gave me her bottle of wine. I wanted to try. No one has ever done that before, so thank you very much. By the way, it was delicious.

More pep

What has happened to high-school cheerleaders? They stand on the sidelines with a bored look on their faces, barely opening their mouths to cheer! They show athleticism in their builds, but that's the only positive I can find. A player will score and there's barely any cheering. A player shoots a free throw, and they don't even offer words of encouragement to them. Only a robotic jump that us fans aren't enthused about. They're too concerned with chit-chatting with each other or adjusting their outfits to actually cheer. All the while their coaches just sit there. Come on! You're there to lead the cheers. So do it!

Macroaggression

Mike Jensen's recently observed that Somalian refugees in the U.S. have to be convinced not to turn on the very country who welcomed them. His more than inference that this is true for all Somalian refugees is not only a premiere of a glittering generality propaganda technique but a macroaggression of major proportions.

No discrimination

I thought MSNBC was discriminating against Ted Cruz when the it broke away from away from Ted Cruz's victory speech to cover Hillary Clinton's. However, I later learned that because Cruz's speech was so long and ponderous, FOX did the same.
