Paul Allen Hendrix, 86, passed away peacefully Friday, March 11, 2016, at home in Cape Girardeau with his family by his side.

He was born May 26, 1929, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late Rev. Francis and Clara Hendrix.

He married Mary Emma Hendrix on Nov. 22, 1961. Mary is the daughter of the late Virgil and Marie Vinson of Charleston, Missouri.

Paul graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University in 1960 and was a certified public accountant in private practice for 65 years before retiring.

Paul served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War and also served in the National Guard of Missouri.

He was a member of the Cape Pilots Club and loved taking his airplane on fishing trips to Canada with his family. He was also a member of the Abbey Road Christian Church; the Cape Choraliers, singing tenor; and Kimbeland Country Club. He enjoyed golf, bowling, music, dancing and caring for his stray cat, Miss Lucki. Paul was good-natured, always a gentleman and had a dry, Midwestern sense of humor.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; two sons, Daryl Vinson Hendrix and Frank (Maryann) Hendrix, and a daughter, Paula Hendrix, all of Wilmington, Delaware; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Family and friends may visit the Crain Funeral Home, 829 N. West End Blvd., in Cape Girardeau from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

A memorial service will be held at noon, immediately followed by a lunch reception at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Ron Routledge of Abbey Road Christian Church.

Memorial contributions may be given to Abbey Road Christian Church, 2411 Abbey Road, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 or Saint Francis Hospice, 14 Doctors Park, Suite C, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
