Lisa Beth Burkhart, 55, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born June 24, 1960, in Cape Girardeau to Willie and Ethel Lincoln Mecham. She and John Burkhart were married May 31, 1989, at Pacific, Missouri.

Lisa was a 1978 graduate of Central High School.

She was a certified nurse assistant in the nursing-home industry. She also helped her husband in his demolition and construction business.

She was a member of Cape First.

Survivors include her husband, John Burkhart of Cape Girardeau; a son, William B. (Natasha Parry) Long of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Charlee Rhea Byington of St. Louis; two sisters, Cheryl (Frank) Merkler of Jackson and Karen Sue (Harold) Dodds of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren, Michael Thacker and Dre Byington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Debbie Brown, Margaret Green and Carol Mecham.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rocky Bierschwal officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Burkhart family to assist with funeral expenses.
