First Tee in need of volunteer coaches

The First Tee program in Cape Girardeau is looking for men, women and teens to serve as volunteer coaches for the summer and fall sessions.

First Tee is an international program that teaches kids ages 7-17 life skills through golf.

The program is currently in the final three weeks of its spring program, but interested individuals are encouraged to jump right in.

The summer session is scheduled to begin June 6.

Classes are held Monday afternoons at the Jaycee Municipal Golf Course and at Arena Golf. If interested please call Sam Blackwell at 587-1881.

Kight fires ace at Kimbeland

Scott Kight of Jackson carded his third career hole-in-one Thursday at Kimbeland Country Club.

Kight used a gap wedge to ace No. 12, a par 3 playing 88 yards. Witnesses were Don Call, Ron Unterreiner and Gene Garrison.
