Wet weather hasn’t knocked crews off schedule during the construction of the roundabout in uptown Jackson.

Brian Holt, resident engineer with the Missouri Department of Transportation, told the Jackson Board of Aldermen on Monday the project is going smoothly, and altered traffic flow at detour points has proved less troublesome than anticipated.

“Traffic is, for the most part, pretty well figured out,” Holt said.

Concrete grading should be done along Barton and East Main streets by the end of the week, and lighting elements were scheduled to arrive this morning.

Barton Street still is scheduled to be open by July 15 as planned. The roundabout project is expected to be finished by the end of October.

Holt said the Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization has been working with MoDOT to adopt a number of the green spaces for landscaping around the roundabout.

“Things are still progressing right along,” Holt said. “Let’s just pray for good weather the next few weeks.”
