CHARLESTON, Mo. — Henry Fred Showmaker of Charleston, 62, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Fred was born Jan. 20, 1954, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late E.J. and Catherine Duenne Showmaker. CHARLESTON, Mo. — Henry Fred Showmaker of Charleston, 62, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Fred was born Jan. 20, 1954, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late E.J. and Catherine Duenne Showmaker.

He was a native of Charleston, a lifelong farmer, land owner and co-owner/operator of Showmaker Brothers Farms in Brookport, Illinois, with his brother Tom Showmaker. A member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Charleston, he was a 1973 graduate of Charleston High School and had attended Murray State University.

On March 4, 1978, Fred married Rosemary Renaud Showmaker, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Rosemary, are two children, Kurt Showmaker of Starkville, Mississippi, and Claire Showmaker of Texarkana, Texas; one grandson, Chase Showmaker of Starkville; two sisters, Cathie Stricker of Belleville, Illinois, and Maureen Brown of Edwardsville, Illinois; and four brothers, Edward Joseph Showmaker of Miller City, Illinois, Tom Showmaker of Charleston, Stephen Paul Showmaker of Cape Girardeau and James Richard “Jimmy” Showmaker of St. Louis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Showmaker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, with Monsignor Richard Rolwing serving as celebrant. Interment will be in Texas Bend Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chase Showmaker, Tim Showmaker, Matt Showmaker, Danny Showmaker, Chris Stricker, Ryan Brown, E.J. Brown, Jason Showmaker and Kevin Renaud.

Memorials contributions may be given to St. Henry’s Catholic School, 306 Court St., Charleston, MO 63834 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
