A friend to all, Sharon Sue Reynolds-Smith Simpkins of Scott City passed away to be with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 17, 2016.

She was born in Cape Girardeau on Aug. 7, 1942.

She attended Cape Girardeau Central High School and graduated from Illmo-Scott City High School in 1960.

Her love and compassion for life were a true testament of her love and kindness to everyone she met, and in her 18 years of employment at the Missouri Veterans Home Alzheimer's Unit, serving the men and women who served in the military, from which she retired after 18 years of devoted service, and her longtime membership of the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post 3838 and her part-time, 23 years of employment at SEMO Laundry in Cape Girardeau.

Her hobbies included dancing; singing; listening to her favorite 1950s and '60s music; traveling; watching movies; her 26-year-old cat, Cassie; and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Clinton Roy Cannon of Shanghai, China; two daughters, Charlotte Fay Cannon and Candy Caldwell, both of Scott City; seven grandchildren, Sarah N. Cannon, Wendy Arma Cannon, Chase Arma Cannon, Casey Chantelle Cannon, Bret T. Crites, Ryan M. Crites and Joshua A. Moser; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, whom she loved and cherished; favorite cousin, Billy Reynolds of Morehouse, Missouri; a 93-year-old great-aunt, Lola Reynolds of Washington, Missouri; and two childhood best friends, Charlotte Maude Cowell of Grassy, Missouri, and Martha Crass of Scott City.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Mae Reynolds and Roy Henry Smith; four sisters, Betty Joan Smith, Mary Alice Cowell, Brenda Joyce Smith Fisher and Connie Lee Smith; and an infant brother.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 2 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on July 2 at the Illmo Baptist Church, 802 Second St. East in Scott City, with Pastor Tommy Miller officiating.

Burial will be at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.

A bereavement dinner for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on July 2 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28745 U.S. 61 in Scott City.

Memorial contributions are requested to Alzheimer's Association or to VFW Post 3838.
