Bollinger County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday morning apprehended a Missouri Department of Corrections inmate who walked off a work site Tuesday afternoon.

He briefly was held in Bollinger County Jail before being taken back to Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston, Missouri.

Deputies were aided by the Department of Corrections’ emergency-response team and a dog team from Farmington Correctional Center, according to Department of Corrections public information officer David Owen.

David Michael Woodward, 29, of Arnold, Missouri, was working on a Department of Corrections work site near County Road 708 when he left the area about 1 p.m. Tuesday. He was found in the same area Wednesday, according to a Bollinger County Sheriff’s Department Facebook post.

Woodward was serving part of a seven-year sentence for burglary.
