NEW MADRID, Mo. -- A Sikeston, Missouri, man who originally was charged with murder will serve 10 years in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Craig "Pico" Marks, 35, was sentenced on the unlawful possession of a firearm charge June 17 by Judge Fred W. Copeland in Mississippi County Circuit Court. Marks' trial had been moved.

On March 18, Marks pleaded guilty to the gun charge, and charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action were dismissed. Marks originally was charged in connection with the Nov. 13, 2014, fatal shooting of Tyrell Banks, 22, of Haywood City, Missouri.
