Southeast Missouri State gymnast Taylor Penzien has been named as one of the 517 student-athletes who will be considered for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

The award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and set themselves apart by excelling in academics, athletics, service and leadership during the duration of their college careers.

This year's pool of honorees marks the largest in the 26-year history of the award, as 231 of the nominees are from the Division I level.

Member schools are encouraged to honor their top graduating female student-athletes each year. The top 30 honorees will be celebrated during the announcement of the award's winner at the annual ceremony on Oct. 16 in Indianapolis.
