Spending on schools

There are some who say we need to spend more money in order to have higher performing schools. The statistics do not support this conclusion. U.S. News and World Report recently published a list of top-performing schools based on advanced placement test scores and graduation rates. According to U.S. census data, New York spends more per student ($19,818 per student) while Utah spends the least ($6,555 per student). New York ranks 10th on the list, while Utah ranks eighth.

Reagan's vote

A Speak Out contributor said he had no doubt Ronald Reagan's son was right when he claimed that his father wouldn't vote for Trump if he were alive today. What a gullible person! First, people change with time, and there is no way to predict what President Reagan would to today, given the circumstances. We can hypothesize, but there's no way we know. Secondly, I just wonder what the son's agenda might be here. The bottom line is this -- nobody knows what Reagan would do, yet some will fall for this because they believe anything that fits their agenda.

Political right

Southeast Missouri has certainly had a turn to the political right the last 15 years. The people remind me of the citizens of Nebraska or Oklahoma -- minus the work ethic.
