Jackson residents now have one less option when it comes to shopping for groceries: The Save-A-Lot grocery store on East Jackson Boulevard no is longer in business.

A representative for the Jackson grocer said the store closed Thursday.

Employees were told the store was spending more money than it was making, the representative said, which was the reason for its closing.

"It's unfortunate they decided to close," Jim Maevers, who owns the property through Maevers Investments LLC, said.

Maevers said Maevers Investments is pursuing other tenants for the location.
