What the NRA and Republican legislators have done. "Aw, what's that cheeky little girl up to?" Then you read the post, and realize the truth: What looks like a preschooler getting up to mischief is actually a preschooler practicing for a lockdown drill. She shouldn't have to be doing this like all the rest of the kids. She should be enjoying life playing. But her life has been changed because of the NRA and the blood-money-thirsty politicians...

Lockdown drill

What the NRA and Republican legislators have done. "Aw, what's that cheeky little girl up to?" Then you read the post, and realize the truth: What looks like a preschooler getting up to mischief is actually a preschooler practicing for a lockdown drill. She shouldn't have to be doing this like all the rest of the kids. She should be enjoying life playing. But her life has been changed because of the NRA and the blood-money-thirsty politicians.

Apologies

Taking my lead from Pope Francis, I formally apologize to gays, the poor and all of the others who have been marginalized by Christianity from time immemorial.

Naloxene

I think the Missouri law allowing prescription free purchase of Naloxene to counter overdoses of heroin and save countless live is perhaps the most progressive piece of legislation passed by the state legislature in several decades. I assume area legislators voted in favor of it, right? The article didn't say.

Hypocrites

The Democrats staging the sit-ins are hypocrites of the highest order, and they and most media outlets are counting on American voters to either have too short an attention span or too few brains to call them on it. The Democrats are blaming the lack of gun-control legislation on Republicans. In truth, the Democrats had a majority in the House and the Senate and had a Democratic president in office from Jan. 3, 2007, to Jan. 3, 2009, and they introduced not one piece of gun-control legislation. Those are the facts. Anything else is a smoke screen. They know it has worked well for them in the past, and they're counting on Americans to fall for it again. Sadly, many are such sheep that they probably will.

Speak Out

One day without Speak Out is physically and psychologically devastating. Two days in a row without Speak Out is even more mentally crippling. However, on the third straight day without Speak Out, the symptoms are gone, meaning a relatively brief withdrawal period.

Pothole problems

When is Cape Girardeau's road repair crew going to learn how to properly fix potholes? There was a slight dip at the intersection of Independence Street and Mount Auburn Road in the inside southbound lane, and they put too much asphalt over half the lane, causing a speed bump! Maybe they should attend a class with the Missouri Department of Transportation to learn how to properly do this so it is smooth!

Benghazi

The Republican Party needs to fork over the $7 million they used for the Benghazi witch hunt they went on. If the American people would come to their senses they would make sure this was done. All the party has done is waste money to try to get political gain, as with the 50 or 60 times they have tried to repeal Obamacare. Look at your party now. It is a disgrace.

Thanks for repairs

I want to thank the contractor Lappe on a great job on the street repairs they did.

Help for students

In regards to the article "Public school students to get dyslexia screenings," most teachers are glad to have a bill to screen for dyslexia! We want more help with our students and want more training on dyslexia! The article quoted several times "teachers would not acknowledge the disability." Please do not blame the teachers. We have been told for several decades by special services and upper administration that dyslexia does not exist, there is no test for it, don't use the word or dismiss the word dyslexia if parents use it. After researching books and sites on dyslexia, I knew it existed, but was never fully trained and the new teacher candidates had never addressed this disability. So kudos to Rep. Kathy Swan and Gov. Jay Nixon for uncovering a true disability and helping our future students.
