It seems to me that if the City of Cape Girardeau really wants to recognize the excellence Jess Bolen has presented over the last 50 years there are two things they could do.

No. 1, give the Capahas $50,000 to use for their upkeep, say $1,000 for each year managed.

No. 2, when they attend a postseason tournament, give them money to help with the expenses. I am told many towns, much smaller than Cape, generously back their team. Why we do not do the same, when they are ambassadors for our city and have represented us so well for so long, is beyond me.

As a matter of fact, if we are going to celebrate that we have the oldest [amateur] baseball team, why not give some of the rec/casino money each year to help underwrite it. We already get a benefit from the entertainment they provide each year. To me, that would be a proper use of such money.
