Construction work on two manholes on Broadway between Lorimier and Spanish streets will prompt traffic detours in the coming weeks, Cape Girardeau city officials announced.

Starting Monday, Perkins Contracting will begin rebuilding the manholes for AT&T. The work is expected to be completed within three to four weeks, officials said.

Local traffic access will be available for area businesses. Customers will be able to access downtown stores via traffic detours. Parking will be affected only in the work zone, city officials said.

Drivers are asked to use caution in the work zone, officials said.
