Mark Stephen Umfleet, 57, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1958, in Cape Girardeau to Edward and Bonnie Jean Barks Umfleet.

He was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri. He served in the National Guard.

He worked many years for Western Geophysical of Houston as a coordinator (second in command to the captain) on a seismic ship exploring for oil and natural gases in the Gulf of Mexico and for several foreign countries.

Mark enjoyed life to its fullest, was good at gardening and cleaning and loved movies.

He loved his precious dog, Sydney.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Umfleet of Scott City; two brothers, Pete (Linda) Umfleet of Advance, Missouri, and Keith Umfleet of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Pamela Burns of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Terry Umfleet; and a sister, April Yarbro.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.
