WAPPAPELLO, Mo. — Glenn Albert Kuehle, 88, of Wappapello, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson.

Glenn, the son of the late Albert E. and Anna E. Meier Kuehle, was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Cape Girardeau. He attended and volunteered at Lake Wappapello Methodist Church.

Glenn proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3416 in Wappapello.

In 1986, he retired after 31 years as a truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight Trucking.

In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling in his RV, camping and visiting with his family and friends.

On March 4, 1949, he married the former Gloradean Angle in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death Aug. 1, 2010.

Survivors include his children, Sue (Don) Hartman of St. Peters, Missouri, and Michael G. (Felicity) Kuehle of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Emily Hartman of St. Peters, Sherry Kuehle (fiancé Eric Stevens) of Springfield, Missouri, and Michael G. Kuehle Jr. of Festus, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Bradley (Kendra) of Springfield, Nathan of Dexter, Missouri, and David of Springfield; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Kuehle of Cape Girardeau; and a host of friends.

A grandson, Darren Hartman; and a brother, Harold Kuehle, also preceded Glenn in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Catherine Bryant and the Rev. Dr. Don Kuehle officiating. Following the service, full military honors will take place on the funeral home grounds. Interment of ashes will be at a later date at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Bloomfield Assistance League of the Missouri Veteran Cemetery Inc., 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, MO 63825.
