SWINTON, Mo. -- Shelby J. Spears, 79, of Swinton passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 8, 1937, at Swinton, daughter of George C. and Victoria Teets Mann. Shelby and Paul D. Spears were united in marriage Dec. 24, 1954, at Bell City, Missouri, and he preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2012.

Survivors include a son, Alan (Cheryl) D. Spears of Jefferson City, Missouri; a daughter, Paula (Billy) J. Martin of Jackson; a brother, Gerald C. Mann of Odessa, Missouri; two sisters, Laverne Conner of Dixon, Missouri, and Kernethia Pruitt of Florissant, Missouri; five grandchildren, Sarah (Bryce) Ray, Tyler Martin, Joe Spears, Megan Martin and Emily Spears; and two great-grandchildren, Carson Paul Ray and Lorriane Ray.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and a sister, Marilyn Mann.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gary Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City, Missouri.
