McCLURE, Ill. -- Stanley Wayne Mouser, 70, of McClure died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Otis B. and Daisy Roxana Stephens Mouser. He and Linda Lucas were married April 9, 1983, at Cape Girardeau.

Stanley was a graduate of Shawnee High School.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a Seabee in the Navy through his retirement in 1987.

Stanley was a carpenter/millwright with the Carpenters Local in Cape Girardeau. He worked in both residential and commercial construction.

He was also a volunteer for the East Cape-McClure Fire Protection District and served as chief from 1992 to 2014.

He was a member of American Legion Post 900 in McClure, AMVETS, Fire Chief Association and the Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Mouser of McClure; two daughters, Sherry (Rory) Kirchhofer of Scott City and Jessica (Justin) Miller of Tamms, Illinois; stepson, Steve Ates Jr. of McClure; stepdaughter, Tonia (Steve) Mirly of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Avery (Bonnie) Mouser of McClure and Rodger (Diane) Mouser of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren, Bethany and Logan Mirly, Cheyenne Ates, Jacob and Clayton Kirchhofer and Jonah and Jameson Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Merlin Mouser; and two sisters, Dora Briggs and Erma Louise Briggs.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with pastor Aaron Boyd officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, with graveside military rites.

Memorial contributions may be given to Missouri Children's Burn Camp or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
